My teenage son and I are about to lose our apartment that we have had for a year. I worked at the same place for four and a half years then we got laid off twice last year. I went on unemployment and then my benefits ran out. The unemployment was not enough to pay the bills and we are behind in the rent. My son's father has disappeared after our family being together for 13 years. My son and I had to leave our housing 2 years ago and we went the homeless route. In the last year,my son has finally been able to settle down. He is in high school and in the Marine ROTC. Mostly A's and B's in school and I don't want to disrupt his life again. I have lots of medical issues and am finally getting physically and emotionally better. I am taking my bachelor's degree in criminal justice on line and did three years of Social Work classes at the local university. I am filling out applications but no luck so far. Then it is really rough with the wolf at the door and being a single parent with no support.  Thank you for listening.

MotherofAlex, I admire you and your strenght. I was once a single mother and I know how hard it can be. I have been married now for 18yrs to a wonderful man. We have a 15yr old daughter(dove). She keeps me going. It is wonderful how you kept going even with all that was on you. I suffer from agoriphobia and have just recently started being able to leave my home after years of confinement. My goal now is to locate a used laptop somehow and take some online coarses to better educate myself. People like yourself are an inspiration to others out there. God bless you and your son Alex.
